The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently issued U.S.Patent No. 8,337,911 B2 which is entitled “Herbal formulation for the prevention and management of Type-2 Diabetes mellitus and vascular complications associated with diabetes”. This patent was assigned to SRM University, Kattankulathur, India contains claims for treatment of the vascular complications associated with type-2 diabetes mellitus consisting essentially of a therapeutically effective amount of a hydroalcoholic extract of Salacia roxbhurghii, Salacia oblonga, Garcinia indica and Lagestroemia parviflora.
